Someone Killed Whilst Dangerous Driving

Can you be held accountable for someone else’s driving?

Question:

What if you let someone drive unlicenced and uninsured or disqualified and they cause death by dangerous driving? Will you be responsible for their driving because you let them drive and they chose to do that?  Would you be facing charges for their death? This has not happened

Emma Says:

Can you tell me what’s actually happened.

It all depends on the circumstances of the case but it would be very unusual for you to be held responsible for the standard of someone else’s driving.

I suppose you could be accused of being a joint defendant but the police would have to prove that your involvement was more than simply letting someone take the car.
