Drink driving without insurance
Drink Driving/Possibly without Insurance
Your road traffic offence question: This is on my son's behalf.
He was arrested this evening, and has given a positive breath test. He does have comprehensive insurance however, but there is a doubt as to whether that insurance is valid when driving someone else's car, as he is only 24. Can you please tell me if there is any defense in this case, and if not, what the possible penalties may be?
Thanks for any help and advice you can offer

Im afraid the insurance matter is the least of his worries. He wont get any penalty points for the insurance matter because it happened at the same time as the drink driving. Therefore if convicted he will get a minimum 12 month ban for the drink driving matter. Tell me what his breath reading was? Would he like to be represented?
You need to check the insurance policy to see whether or not it covered him to drive other vehicle - it will say in the policy document about any age restrictions for that type of cover.
Come back to me if you would like further help.
