Gatso and LTI used in close proximity
CAN A MOBILE CAMERA BE USED WHEN IT IS FACING A STATIC CAMERA AND STILL GIVE AN ACCURATE READING
A mobile camera uses a laser to fire a narrow beam of light against the car. the beam bounces back and forth measuring distance. The device has a built in timer. When you have distance and time you can calculate velocity (speed). The static camera (GATSO?) users a radar beam that hit any hard object that travels through the beam again bouncing the beam back and forth. Its a completely different type of device.
I cannot see any reason why the reading from one would be affected by the reading from the other - unless the GATSO flash was to coincide with the laser detecting a speeding vehicle and affecting the way the light travels back a forth. i am not aware of any rules or guidance that suggest that should not be used in close proximity - although the laser should not be used with the police radio on because that can interfere.
What's the speed alleged? Have you got any points already?
