Someone else was supposed to be sorting out insurance

was stopped on 01.12.09 re the above.

I received a requisition form MG4E from the police today 26.03.10. Given the delay, is there a statutory time limit for the police to serve this? It has been 16 weeks since the alleged offence.

In addition, the car that I was driving was owned by my mothers ex partner who had insured the car continually for approx 18 months and I genuinely had no idea that he had stopped doing this 3 months before I was stopped. So do not feel Ishould be responsible.

I would be grateful for your initial advice

The only time limit on a no insurance matter is that the summons has to be issued withoin 6 months of the date of the alleged offence. There is no requirement for a NIP within 14 days in relation to a no insurance offence....

Havbe you admitted beiung the driver? Were you actually stopped at the time? Tell me more.

Was he supposed to be insuring it for you to drive too? If so you will have a strong special reasons argument to try and avoid the points. Tell me more and i will be happy to assist further. Have you got any points already? Are you a new driver?
