Mistakenly driving without insurance

I insured my car online with 1st Central Insurance on 27 February 2010,paying a deposit of £223,which i have proof.I recieved an E-mail instantly saying that my policy was'In Force'.2 weeks later i was stopped by Police,to find out that i was uninsured.I made a mistake on the keyboard of my laptop and put in 27 March instead of 27 February.A simple mistake. Why would i pay a big deposit& wait a month to drive?I have wrote a letter to the court about this.I am facing a £200 fine and 6 points on my licence. Is it worth taking to court?

I understand what has happened. You have two choices. Take the ticket and the points and get the matter over and done with, alternatively ask for a court hearing and try and persuade the court not to impose the points.

You will need to make a special reasons argument at court and I will be happy to assist in that regard. The argument is not easy and most people who try will fail. We have a 75% success rate and I think you have a good argument. If the court agrees then you will avoid the points and hopefully they will agree to give you an absolute discharge rather than a fine.

Your argument is based on the fact that you were driving under the genuine misapprehension that you were covered and you have a good chance of succeeding.
