Driving without insurance

Apr 23, 2010

Didn't know I wasn't covered by insurance.

My insurers renew my policy each year and I pay by DD. I received notice of renewal as before, but owing to a computer glitch, or so they say, my policy was cancelled and I was not informed.  I assume I have a defence under s. 143(3)(c)  Please advise.

Sorry but you don't have a defence. S.142(3)(c)relates to when you are driving in the course of your employment and its not your car and you are unaware that the vehicle is not covered. All three conditions have to apply before you have a defence.

You may have a special reasons argument though to avoid the points. I will be happy to assist you with the argument if you would like my help. It involves taking the matter to court and giving evidence on oath.

Come back to me if you would like my help. Have you got any points already? If so how many? Are you a new driver?
