Driving without insurance
Apr 26, 2010
A car place is covered by the road traffic laws!!
My friend had recently passed his driving test and he took some of us mates out, for some reason we ended up in a empty car park where there were no cars or pedestrians. So he asked me if i wanted to drive round the car park due to having just started my driving lessons. So i agreed no thinking it was a major offence due to being in a car park. Then 10 minutes later a police man came and took my details and said i am driving on a public road with no insurance or lincense and my friend got his car taken off him.
I do not know whats going to happen now, in terms of punishment as he said I might get summoned to court, I am only 17 and I drove round the car park with no intention to break the law.My friend had recently passed his driving test and he took some of us mates out, for some reason we ended up in a empty car park where there were no cars or pedestrians. Im afraid the police officer is right. If the public have access to the car park then it is covered by the road traffic laws and you have to be insured and have a licence etc.
Im afraid that you will probably get a summons for no insurance and you will get 6-8 points before you have passed your test. If you then get any more points in the first two years your licence will be revoked. The only good news is that you will still be able to take your test and pas. Hopefully you will then be able to stay squeaky clean in the first two years.
Keep my details ion case anything else goes wrong!
