Discretionary ban risk
i have received notification that i was doing 53 in a 30 zone on a dual carriageway. It was captured by a lastec camera. I am quite quite concerned about the outcome. I have 3 points (jan 08) and held full license for 26 years. Can you advise what penalty I could receive & could this be reduced if I offer to go on a speed awareness course. Thanks.

The speed is high and you will be at risk of a discretionary ban Im afraid.
You won't be able to do the speed awareness course. They only offer it in cases where the speed is no more than 39 in a 30 limit. You will get a summons to court Im afraid.
You will be at risk of 6 points or a ban of up to 56 days.
Do you need to be able to drive in relation to your employment?
