I wanted to take the fixed penalty offer
I was given fine for contravening traffic light - driving through red light. Very busy traffic -double robot and as had just had brakes done was advised not to break harshly. Braking harshly would have been more dangerous in rush hour traffic. Got a fine of £60 and was told to hand in licence = paid fine following week but as had lost licence on holiday had no licence to hand in - went to police station but they couldn't help. By the time licence came I had completly forgotten about licence - they have returned £60 cheque and issued summons!! What can i do it was a simple mistake ?

You need to tell the court that you wanted to accept the fixed penalty offer and ask them to consider imposing the same penalty at court. The court will have some sympathy if you tell them that you had lost your licence.

This case represents our toughest battle to date. It was a battle at every stage involving Magistrates, District Judges, Court Clerks, Cps lawyers and Crown Court Judges. The argument was all about whether a road was public or private.
