You have to have insurance if you drive a vehicle on a public road or in a public place. Any where to which the public have unrestricted access to is classed as a public place or road - so the answer is yes Im afraid.
you are facing 6-8 penalty points for driving without insurance.
Are you a new driver? have you got any points already? If so how many?
Are you able to tell me more about what actually happened? I may be able to help you avoid the points if there was a good reason or you thought that you were covered?
