Driving without insurance
Aug 12, 2010
No renewal notice sent out.
Alleged Offence: Driving without insurance
Your road traffic offence question: My son moved back home in March. He notified his insurance company on x of the move. This is documented. No renewal notice has been received. Yesterday, he was stopped by the police and realised that his insurance expired on x. He has been offered a six point and £200 fixed penalty. This will take his total points to 9. Does he have a case to ask for greater leniency than the fixed penalty?

Im afraid not. The court would feel that it was your son's responsibility to keep track of the renewal date for his insurance. We may have been able to avoid the points if your son had been misled into thinking that he was covered.
Keep my details and if anything else happens come back to me. Your son is going to be in a difficult position on 9 points and he will face a ban if he gets anymore. I help over 91% of my clients avoid this type of ban.
