Driving without insurance
Aug 13, 2010
Found out now that I was insured after accepting fixed penalty
Alleged Offence: no insurance
Your road traffic offence question: I am inquiring on behalf of a friend. He was stopped last December driving a car not belonging to him. He wrongly thought he was covered on his own insurance to drive other vehicles 3rd party so accepted a fixed penalty notice and 6 points. He has since found out his works insurance policy covers him. Is it too late to prove the other insurance was in place at the time and apply to have the points removed.

He accepted the fixed penalty and I am afraid that is normally the end of the matter. The only thing he could try is making representations to the officer that stopped him to see if the fixed penalty could be set aside but I have not heard of it happening before Im afraid and I am not sure whether the police would actually be willing to help.
Sorry.
