Can I Dispute It?

Question:

Failing to comply with traffic light signal.

I don’t believe that I ran a red light and would like to request the evidence. If photographic evidence is produced can I dispute it?

Graham Says:

Red traffic light offences are very difficult to challenge.

If the photos are produced and they show you were not across the line after the lights turned red then you will have a strong defence. If they show you were across the line then you will struggle.

You have to cast a doubt to win. The prosecution have to prove their case beyond reasonable doubt to win.

If you don’t accept the evidence then you should reject the ticket and ask for a court hearing, but if you lose at court the fines and court costs will be higher.
