Didn’t Realise Insurance Had Lapsed

Dear sir/ madam

I was driving my car on x and got caught by police and when I showed my insurance papers, I realised my insurance was over on x which was a mistake as I thought my insurance policy was getting over in feb.

I was driving on international driving licence. What will happen now? If you could please let me know?
