Failure To Declare Points invalidates Insurance Policy

Question:

SP30

My partner was involved in a car accident and the car is a write off. However when checking through my policy my endorsement and penalty points isn’t on it and am now afraid my insurance will be void.

Can I explain to my insurance company whilst this claim has now begun?

Paula Says:

I’m afraid this is not my area of expertise.

I specialise in road traffic offences. If you were accused by the police of driving without insurance I would be able to help.

This is actually a matter of contract between you and the insurance company. You need to check your policy to see whether a failure to disclose points invalidates the policy. You have to be honest with the insurane company because you could get into more trouble if you deliberately mislead them.

Come back to me if you are reported for a no insurance offence and I will be able to help further.
