What is the penalty for permitting a friend to drive your car with no insurance, even if you genuinely believed them to have it?

You are at risk of 6-8 points and if you are a new driver or have 6 points already you will be at risk of revocation / a ban.

If you made it a pre condition of use that the person concerned was insured then you will have a defence. If this doesn’t work then you will have a special reasons argument.
