Slow Puncture

Question:

Slow puncture

Can you be given points on your licence for a slow puncture?

Emma Says:

You made me look things up! I don’t normally have to do that ! Bad news though – Having a slow puncture (if the tyre is deflated) would mean that the tyre is defective therefore it is an offence which carries points. That seems common sense but most of the rules apply to the depth of the tread – therefore I needed to double check.

If you did not know about the puncture and you are willing to take the matter to court then you may be able to avoid the points. You have to be prepared to take the matter to court.

Have you got any penalty points already? If so, how many? Are you a new driver?
