I Wasn’t Stopped – Can I Still Get A Ticket?

Question:

Two police officers were standing at the side of the road and caught me on a radar gun. They did not stop me. Can they still prosecute if I was speeding ?

Louise Says:

Yes they can. In the vast majority of speeding offences the driver is not stopped at the time of the alleged offence.

The registered keeper or the car has to be sent an NIP ticket within 14 days of the alleged offence. This will come out to you in the post if you are the keeper.

Have you any idea what sort of speed you were doing and what the limit for the road s? If you tell me I will be able to indicate the likely sentence.

Have you got any points already? Are you a new driver?
