Should I Appeal Speeding Fine?

Question:

Hi, I contacted you last year. I ended up defending myself as I could not afford to hire your services. Despite the fact that I had a Tom Tom in my car and I have since surveyed the road, the court still found me guilty after looking at the evidence. The court gave me a speeding fine of £215.

Do you think that’s fair when I see in the paper this week that burglary is only £147 and violence £210 is there any point in appealing as I have paid the fine.

 Louise Says:

I am sorry that you lost.

There is no point in appealing. The fine was well within the magistrates sentencing guidelines and if you take it to the crown court and lose you would get court costs on top. You also have to appeal the sentence within 21 days of the hearing so I anticipate you are out of time.
