Insurance Company Said I Was Covered

Question:

Driving without insurance

Stopped by the police for not having insurance. I was told by my insurance company that I could drive any car 3rd party after my 25th b-day. I called after my birthday and they wrongly said over the phone that I could drive any car, which they have admitted.

Am I able to appeal against the conviction?

Paula Says:

Whose car were you driving at the time? This is an important question. If the insurance company have admitted that it was their mistake and that they misled you into thinking that you were covered then you have a strong special reasons argument to avoid the penalty points. You get 6-8 penalty points for no insurance.

It maybe possible to persuade the police to withdraw the allegation if you have managed to get the insurance company to admit their mistake in writing?

Have you got any penalty points already? If so, how many? How long have you been driving.
